How long does it take to get fully registered and compliant?
We will advise you of all the documents that we require to get you fully compliant with us. As soon as we receive all the correct information and required documents then we can turn around your file within 24 hours. We have an experienced Compliance team who can help speed up the registration process.
I was registered with MP Locums previously; will I need to send in all my documents again?
For any documents that have expired, you will be required to send in updated ones. Your Compliance Officer will advise you what is required.
I already have a PVG, do I need to apply for another one?
No, a PVG will not expire and a copy of your current certificate is all we need. We will require you to fill out a short existing member form so that we can add ourselves as a named body on your PVG. We will cover the cost of this.
I am a full-time locum, who is my registered body?
We can be your Registered Body, we work alongside a company Medsu that can offer you Appraisal and Revalidation support.
For life support, I have online certification, do I need anything else?
It is a Framework requirement to have Practical Life Support, our Occupational Health company can help you with this.
Do I have to pay for Fitness to Work Clearance?
No, one of the benefits of registering with us is that we will cover the cost of this for you.
I have no Mandatory Training; how do I get this?
We can set this up online for you and will cover the cost, a copy of your certificate will be sent to you for your records and CPD points.
Do you provide sponsorship for Visa’s?
We unfortunately cannot offer sponsorship as we provide locum work not permanent positions. We can direct you to organisations who can help with your sponsorship.
I have no evidence for my immunisations, can you help me with this?
Yes, we work alongside a fantastic Occupational Health company who can offer advice and support.
Will I need to meet you face to face?
Yes, we are required to meet and verify some of your original documents prior to your first shift with us, you are welcome to come into our office anytime or a member of the team will come out to meet you if this is more suitable.
I have a full license to practice with the GMC but no UK experience, can you still find me locum work?
If we have your two most recent references from a Consultant in your own country and the rest of your compliance documents are up to date then yes, we are still able to obtain you work. Although sometimes the Health Boards and Trusts to prefer at least 6 months UK experience.
I only have a copy of my qualification certificate and not the original, can I still work as a locum?
It is a Framework requirement that we hold verified copies of your original qualifications. If you have it at home, then please either collect the original and bring it back with yourself or ask someone at home to post them. Otherwise, we will verify from your Medical School the qualification that was obtained and when it was obtained.
Will I get the chance to meet my Recruitment Consultant?
Yes, you can come to our office in Falkirk, or we can come out to meet you, whatever is easier for you. We always look forward to meeting our Dr’s as this a great opportunity for us to really get to know you which will help us to secure you the perfect locum position. You will also meet our Compliance Officer who will ensure your registration is completed for your first shift with us.
What grade and speciality of jobs do you receive?
For hospital doctor’s we cover all grades and specialities. We also have GP jobs available for OOH’s and GP Surgery’s. You can speak to your Recruitment Consultant about jobs suitable for your grade and speciality.
What locations do you receive jobs from?
As we are a framework agency for Scotland, Northern Ireland and England this means we are first to receive the jobs as soon as they come out and we will be able to offer locum opportunities throughout the UK. You can speak to your Recruitment Consultant about jobs suitable for your preferred location.
What rates do you offer?
We work to Framework contracted rates set by Procurement. You should contact your Recruitment Consultant to discuss your rate in more detail.
What happens if I get stuck with some of the documents you require?
You don’t need to worry about this as we have a fantastic Compliance Officer who is on hand to help and support you every step of the way when it comes to getting you fully compliant with us.
What happens when I am put forward for a job?
Once you have confirmed with your Recruitment Consultant that you would like to be submitted, we will forward your required compliance documents to the Health Board/Trust. The decision lies with the Health Board/Trust if they will book you for the job.
I have seen a job that I am interested in, what should I do?
You should contact your Recruitment Consultant who will then be able to discuss the position in more detail.
How do I get notified of the jobs?
Your Recruitment Consultant will work with you to find out exactly what type of locum work you are looking for. We tailor our emails so that you only receive the jobs that match your specific requirements. It is important for us to be getting the right jobs to the right doctors in the fastest time possible so that you never miss out on the perfect locum opportunity.
How will I know if I am booked for a locum position?
We will notify you straight away once we know if you have been successful or not in applying for a position. If you are successful, we shall confirm your booking verbally and follow up with an email.
I have to cancel my booking, what should I do?
We ask for your total commitment with each booking and we understand that there may be an occasion that you need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. In cases like this, we ask if you can give us as much notice as possible with a full valid reason.
What happens if the Trust cancel my booking?
Sometimes this can happen unfortunately, and we will always try to give you as much notice as possible. To ensure you don’t miss out, we will do our best to find you alternative locum work to cover.
Do I need to have a HIV test?
It is a Framework requirement that all doctors working in Exposure Prone Procedures provide a HIV test result.
Why are you asking me for immunisations when I don’t need them for my substantive job with the NHS?
It is a Framework requirement that we provide all necessary immunisations. The nature of locum work means that locum doctors are more at risk from infection as they are working for different Health Boards and Trusts.
Why have I only been paid for 37.5 hours and not the 40 hours I claimed for?
The break policy for the NHS states that it is mandatory breaks are deducted. You can contact your Recruitment Consultant should you wish to discuss break policies further.
How will I get paid?
We offer a fast and efficient weekly payroll service. If we receive your timesheet with the correct information on it by Tuesday 5pm then you will receive payment on the Friday.
I received my P45 but have not been sent a P60?
If you have not worked with us since receiving your P45 from us, then you will not be due to receive a P60.
My timesheet has not been signed, what should I do?
We would ask that you go back to the department for the authorised signature on your timesheet. If this is not possible then speak to your Recruitment Consultant.
What if I need to contact you out with office hours?
We are always available to help you any time of the day or night as we operate 24/7.
