Staff Grades 1 - 6 (ST1 - ST6)
After completing your FY1 and FY2 training years as a medical doctor, you are now classified by the General Medical Council (GMC) as a Staff Grade Doctor. This is a middle grade position. There are no specific exams at this level and MP Locums will place doctors on this level according to experience gained and references obtained.
In 2008, the staff grade was replaced by the specialist doctor grade and most doctors at this level work towards becoming an Associate Specialist or a Specialist Registrar as part of their long term career goals to become a Consultant
