Obstetrics and Gynaecology Locum Jobs

Obstetrics and Gynaecology (often abreviated to Obs & Gynae) is a surgical/medical speciality which focuses on the female reproductive organs.  This is a speciality in medicine and requires postgraduate training involving practicing OB.GYN to a level skill to manage the entire scoppe of clinical pathology involving all femail reproductive organs in the pregnant and non-pregnant state.

There are a variety of sub-specialities involved with the branch of medicine refered to as Obs & Gynae:

  • Maternal-fetal medicine
  • Reproductive endocrinology and infertility
  • Urogynaecologyu and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery
  • Family planning
  • Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology
  • Menopausal and Geriatric Gynaelcology

Of these, only the first four are truly recognized sub-specialties by the Accredited Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The other subspecialties are recognized as informal concentrations of practice. To be recognized as a board-certified subspecialist, a practitioner must have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship and obtained a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) which requires an additional standardized examination.

Please inform your MP Locum resourcer of your interest in working with the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as a Locum Doctor during the Registration Process.
